Before you apply
Identify the business owner, trading name, operating premises and proposed activity. An authorised representative should explain their authority to apply. Use the premises address rather than a general neighbourhood description.
Prepare your application
Provide the business activity, proposed opening date, operating hours and ownership details. Supporting material may include premises consent, a lease, a layout or a description of equipment and expected public access. Staff may request clarification through your application thread.
Registration and separate approvals
Business registration records the business with the City. It does not by itself approve building work, a change of land use, alcohol sales, public events or a regulated activity. Related planning, fire-safety and other approvals are considered separately.
Review and outcome
The Office of Finance checks the submission and records a decision or action required. Keep the written outcome and any conditions. Do not treat a submitted or under-review application as permission to begin a regulated operation. Any applicable fee or condition must be confirmed in the official response.
